Childrens' Day!

Today is Childrens' Day. It is a day to celebrate the joy of children. Over here, it is also a school holiday :) and children gets lots of little presents from their teachers too, like candy and stationery items. In church this morning, there was a lovely mass celebrated specially for children followed by a party and games. Dalton and Dale loved the games, especially the Hula Hoop race. They have a fascination with hoops and are quite good at it.

Anyway, the one thing I wanted to celebrate most is this....Dalton and Dale are finally reading independently chapter books! They started on The Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne last Friday and have been hooked ever since. It is so nice to see them sitting quietly and reading. Ahhhh the bliss of two little boys being so quiet (for once) and not up to mischief (for once) Usually when they are very quiet, I can be very sure, they are up to mischief!
